MOBILE, Ala. -- Troy turned in its best round of the 2006-07 season Tuesday, a 16-over 304, but it was not enough to move the Trojans up in a tight field at the USA Jaguar Invitational at Azalea City Golf Club. Troy fell one spot to 15th, but were just six shots out of a top 10 finish.
Middle Tennessee claimed first place at 15-over 591, while Blue Raider Taryn Durham claimed medalist honors at two-under 142 after a four-under 68 on Tuesday.
Freshman transfer Desirae Zine turned in the second-best individual round for the Trojans this year at two-over 74. She triple-bogeyed her first hole, but had recovered to even par by the back nine. Sophomore Danielle Skipper tied for 34th at ten-over 154 after her second straight 77.
Charlotte Sundqvist duplicated her opening round 78 to finish at 156 (tied for 44th), while Kaley Branton shot a second 81 to tie for 81st at 162.Sarah Weldon cut seven strokes of her opening round 98 to finish 106th at 189 (98-91)..
Troy returns to action next Monday, March 19 at the Samford Women's Intercollegiate in Calera, Ala.
