Bares Receives Second Player of the Week Honor

TROY, Ala. - Troy sophomore Annabelle Bares has been named Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Bares earned the conference honor as she improved to 10-1 in singles after defeating No.80 Carol Salge of No. 7 Clemson on Sunday. Bares won her match with the top-ranked Salge 6-4, 7-5 as she posted one of two wins for Troy against the Tigers.

Bares lost her first match of the season on Saturday as she fell to Ana Marija Zubori of South Carolina 6-4, 6-0 but rebounded on Sunday for the win.

This is the second time this season Bares has received this honor for the conference as she was also named Player of the Week Feb. 21 for her performance for the Trojans against Ole Miss, Alabama State and Tennessee Tech.
