Trojans Split Against Middle Tennessee

The Trojans (16-6, 1-1 SBC) were able to get on the board courtesy of a Brooke Powell double. Powell's double scored Heidi Johnson who got on base with a walk and then advanced on a Stacey Dwyer sacrifice and a Jessica Lyle single.
Courtney Davis then singled to bring in Lyle to make the Troy lead 2-0. Rocky Paige then grounded out to third advancing Davis to third. Brooke Powell then doubled to bring in Davis. Felicia Hammer then singled to bring in Powell making the Troy lead 4-0.
Troy then added to their lead in the top of the second when Heidi Johnson connected on a Floyd pitch and took it over the left field wall to score Amanda Ragans who singled making the Trojan lead 6-0. The homerun ended the day for Blue Raider pitcher Floyd.
Starting pitcher Rocky Paige loaded the bases in the bottom of the third. MTSU (12-14, 3-2 SBC) got on the board when Muriel Ledbetter flew out to center scoring Caitlin McClure cutting the Trojan lead to 6-1.
In the top of the fourth, Jessica Lyle led off the inning with a homerun over the right center wall making the lead 7-1. Lyle's homerun was her first of the season.
In the top of the fifth, the Trojans were able to connect for another homerun as Amanda Ragans hit a shot over the right field wall to make the Trojan lead 8-1.
The Trojans would then add four more runs in the game and win 12-1 in six innings.
Rocky Paige (4-1) was the winning pitcher for the Trojans. Paige went five innings and only giving up two hits and one run and striking out three. Samantha Floyd (3-4) earned the loss for the Blue Raiders.
In game two, the Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Courtney Davis' double score Jessica Lyle who reached on a fielder's choice.
The Blue Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the third when a Troy throwing error off a Katie Mielke double scored Caitlin McLure. McLure had reached on a single. The run tied the game at 1-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Blue Raiders took a 2-1 off a Mielke single scored Jessica Ives who doubled.
The Trojans tied the game at 2-2 in the next inning when Stacey Dwyer homered over the left field wall.
The Blue Raiders scored two in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead 4-2. Ashley Cline singled and then advanced to second on a sacrifice. After a steal and an error on the Trojans, Cline scored giving the Raiders the 3-2 lead. After a single by Weiland, Shelby Stiner scored to give the Raiders the 4-2 lead. Stiner was hit-by-pitch to get on base.
The Trojans loaded the bases in the top of the inning but failed to score as Middle won 4-2.
Angela Lopez (5-2) took the loss for the Trojans. Lopez went 5 1/3 giving up seven hits and four runs.
The Trojans will be back in action tomorrow against the Blue Raiders. Game time is scheduled for noon in Murfreesboro.
