Jounia Wins to Lift Troy Over UALR

Jounia's match ended at 12:30 a.m. as she won a tie-breaker in the second set to win the match for the Trojans. Jounia won the first set 6-4 before struggling in the second set. Jounia trailed 5-3 in the second set before settling down for the 7-6 (7-3) win over Paty Cortez.
Jounia's match won the match for Troy as it was tied at three before her match concluded. Troy is now 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.
UALR won the doubles point to begin the match 1-0 before sophomore Annabelle Bares and senior Claudia Strauss won their matches to give Troy the 2-1 advantage. Bares improved to 8-0 on the season with the win.
Freshman Stephanie Vieria fell to Laetitia Dourgheon, 7-5, 6-4 to tie the match at two. Then sophomore Rawia Elsisi won her match over Outi Jarvinen, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to put Troy back up by one.
Sophomore Nicole Shaw lost her match with Rosario Negrete, 6-2, 6-0, tying the match at three which set-up Jounia's dramatic finish.
The women will have the week off before traveling to Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, March 8 to face Samford.
