The Troy Trojans (8-2) started the day with a loss to the LSU Tigers, ranked number six nationally, 9-1.
The Trojans' only hit of the game was a big one, a home run by Heidi Johnson in the fifth inning to break up a no hitter.
I'm proud of Heidi [Johnson] for breaking up the no hitter,” Head Coach Melanie Davis said.
The Tigers threw their very best at Troy, pitcher Emily Turner an All American last season.
Emily Turner is a big reason why LSU is sixth in the country. And she did a great job keeping our batters off balance,” Davis said.
The Trojans' final contest of the day was against the other Louisiana team in the tournament, Louisiana Tech.
Troy went down early allowing six runs by the end of two innings.
The Trojans rallied to cut the lead in half, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the second.
The Lady Techsters pulled away adding two runs to their lead in the top of the fourth, but a home run in the bottom half by Troy infielder Courtney Davis, brought the Trojans within four runs.
Troy drew even closer in the sixth inning, scoring two more runs, closing the gap to 8-6 heading into the final inning.
The Trojans were unable to muster any offense in the seventh, and fell by a score of 8-6.
Troy will conclude play in Baton Rouge facing Southern Miss at 9:00 am and LSU at 11:15 am on Sunday.
