Trojans Begin Conference Play with Win

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Trojans defeated Arkansas State, 5-2 to open conference play with on Friday at the UALR Quad.

Sophomore Rawia Elsisi started the day off strong for Troy as she defeated Maria Oprea, 6-0, 6-0.

Elsisi was then assisted by sophomore Annabelle Bares who improved to 7-0 with the win over Zeljka Minic, 6-1, 6-0.

Senior Claudia Strauss also won her match with Paula Chelminska, 6-1, 6-4 to add to the Trojan score.

The Trojans also won the doubles point as they swept Arkansas State on that front winning all three.

The women will be back in action at 7 p.m. when it takes on UALR. The men's team will play Saturday against Texas -Arlington at 4:30 p.m.
