USTA Classic of Troy Continues Play

TROY, Ala.- The 2007 USTA Classic of Troy continued play Wednesday with a singles upset to start off the day.

The tournament's number six seed, Jenifer Widjaja from Brazil, was upset by Mary Gamble of the United States 7-5, 6-3.

Stephanie Dubois, the number one seed from Canada, defeated Melanie Oudin from the United States 6-1, 6-4, to continue on to the next round.

In doubles action, the number one seeds Eva Hrdinova and Marie-Eve Pelletier from Canada beat Mary Gamble, who upset the number six seed in singles play, and Mami Inque of the United States 6-1, 6-3.

The number two seeds, Sunitha Rao of India, and Christina Wheller of Australia and number four seeds, Leanne Baker and Surina De Beer defeated their opponents to claim their spot in the next round.

The tournament continues Wednesday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on the Troy campus beginning at 10 a.m.
