Junior Laine Harcourt, sophomore Jessica Lyle, junior Brooke Powell and freshman Heidi Johnson were each named second team pitcher, first base, second base and outfield respectively.
I am extremely proud of all four of our young ladies who were honored with all-conference recognition, that puts them in a special category and they have all worked very hard to achieve this great honor in their sport,” head coach Melanie Davis said.
In conference play, Harcourt has record of 4-5 with an ERA of 1.22, has allowed 20 runs, 12 earned and 53 hits with 61 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched. Overall, Harcourt is 15-20 with an ERA of 2.04, 234 hits, 101 runs, 75 earned and 217 strikeouts in 257 innings pitched.
I'm especially proud of Laine Harcourt and the numbers she posted during conference play. Her win loss record is not indicative of the successful year she had on the mound,” Davis said.
Lyle is leading the team in batting average (.318), slugging percentage (.484), on-base percentage (.415), runs scored (31), hits (61), doubles (14) and triples (6).
Lyle is also leading the team in conference play as she has a batting average of .333, 17 hits, three doubles, one triple, five RBI and has scored six runs.
Jessica's been our most consistent hitter throughout the season and she is very deserving of all-conference recognition,” Davis said.
On the defensive end of the ball, Lyle is performing well as she has 333 put outs, 26 assists, a .984 fielding percentage and 11 double plays.
Powell leads the team in RBI with 31, is second on the team with 50 hits and is tied with Johnson for first with nine home runs. Powell is batting .269 with a slugging percentage of .457 and an on-base percentage of .355. Powell has also scored 13 runs for Troy in 2006.
Defensively, Powell has 152 put outs with 59 assists, a fielding percentage of .946 and eight double plays.
Johnson has helped lead Troy in her freshman season as she has broken the school record for RBI in a game with eight and home runs by a freshman with nine. One of Johnson's home runs came against reigning national champions Michigan which started the rally and helped the Trojans win 4-2. Johnson is second on the team in slugging percentage (.461), RBI (29), doubles (11), stolen bases (13) and is third in hits (45) and runs scored (24).
In the field, Johnson has 53 put outs, seven assists, four double plays and a fielding percentage of .984.
Brooke and Heidi have been in a home run race within our program throughout the season,” Davis said. Each had major hits in big situations and games and I am equally proud for both of these young ladies achieving this honor that they both definitely deserve.”
