Trojans Fall 4-3 to Mean Green

TROY, Ala. - One run games were the rule not the exception over the weekend as Troy lost 4-3 on senior day after allowing four early runs to North Texas.
Each game in the three game series was decided by one-run and Troy (28-35, 5-7 SBC) has now played 20 one-run games this season.
North Texas (20-32, 3-9 SBC) jumped out to a three-run lead early in the first after Susan Waters hit a three-run home run to left field.
Then in the second, the Mean Green extended its lead after Christen Jonse scored from third on a wild pitch, 4-0.
The Trojans then staged a comeback as junior Brooke Powell hit a two-run home run in the third to cut into the Mean Green lead, 4-2. Powell's home run was her eighth of the season as she went two for four on the day.
Sophomore Jessica Lyle scored on Powell's home run as she singled to reach base. Lyle ended the day three for four.
Freshman Katie Taber singled in the fourth which brought in junior Amanda Ragans from third. Taber was pinch hitting for junior Angie Coteat.
Sophomore Angela Lopez (11-12) took the loss in the circle as she allowed four runs, three earned runs and four hits in two innings of work.
Junior Laine Harcourt came in relief and she went five innings allowed no runs and one hit to keep Troy in the game.
North Texas left five runners on base and only notched one hit after the second inning while Troy left nine runners on base and had seven total hits.
The Trojans will have a few days off before traveling to Miami, Fla., for its match-up with Florida International on Saturday May 6th. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. and Sunday's game is set for 1 p.m.
The Trojans will stay in Miami through May 11 when the Sun Belt Conference tournament begins.
