PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Windy conditions sent scores higher for the Trojan women's golf team Tuesday morning as Troy shot 357 on the Dye Course at PGA Village. The Trojans stayed 10th among the 10 teams.
Kristy Stephens led the Trojans in the second round with an 81 and now sits in 45th at 168 for the tournament. She was even through seven and made the turn at one-over 37 after a three-put bogey at No. 8. The back nine proved tougher as she registered two pars at Nos. 14 and 18.
"It was a struggle out there today," said Stephens. "I was pretty confident, but my putting went downhill a little bit. Then, I started thinking too much. I lost my concentration and I lost some confidence. We thought going into the morning that it would be calm, but we had more wind than yesterday."
Danielle Skipper continues to pace Troy as she added an 82 to her opening-round 81 (163/t31). Katelyn Crosson stands tied for 47th at 173 (83-90), while Sam Kreiger is in 49th at 206 (102-104). Sarah Weldon rounds out the scoring at 209 (95-114/50th).
"I like the way that Danielle has played in her first college tournament," said head coach Matt Terry. "I hope that we can go out tomorrow and play better. It would be nice to finish on a high note."
The final round tees off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
