Trojans Lose Two at Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The momentum from beating the reining national champions, Michigan on Tuesday was not enough as Troy lost both games on Saturday at the University of Oklahoma tournament.
Troy (11-6) lost to No. 19 LSU (18-3) 2-0 in game one of the day and in game two lost 13-2 to No. 10 Oklahoma (14-5-1).
LSU held the Trojans to one hit in seven innings and hit two home runs on its way to the win. The lone Trojan with a hit was sophomore Caurie Miller, who went one for three against the Tigers. Defensively, Miller had three put outs and one assist in the game.
On the mound, sophomore Angela Lopez received the loss as she allowed two runs, four hits and three walks in four innings of work. Lopez is now 5-2 for the season.
The Tigers hit a home run in the third to get on the board and then hit another in the fourth to put runs on the board. The Tigers had seven hits in the game.
Defensively, the Trojans held strong as they notched 21 put outs and eight assists. Freshman Felicia Hammer recorded six put outs and four assists for Troy. Junior Brooke Powell had four put outs and three assists against the Tigers.
Against Oklahoma, the Sooners pulled away early and Troy was never able to catch up. Oklahoma scored three runs in the first and six in the second to put the Trojans down 9-0 in the second inning.
The Trojans scored two runs in the fifth after sophomore Caurie Miller singled and then reached second on a wild pitch. Miller scored on a single by junior Amanda Ragans. Ragans scored the second run for the Trojans on a single by freshman Heidi Johnson.
Ragans and Johnson went one for two on the day with each having an RBI. Miller went one for one and recorded a run for the Trojans.
Junior Michelle Grinage recorded the loss on the mound for the Trojans with her record falling to 2-2. Grinage allowed six hits, seven runs, one walk and had one strikeout facing 14 batters.
