Troy Travels to Oklahoma For Sooners and Tigers Matchup

TROY, Ala. - The Troy softball team will use the momentum it gained after beating reigning national champion Michigan on Tuesday as it travels to Oklahoma City, Okla., to compete in the University of Oklahoma tournament.
The Oklahoma tournament is a round robin that will feature host Oklahoma, Louisiana State University and Troy. Oklahoma and LSU are currently ranked 10th and 19th respectively by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Oklahoma has a record of 13-3-1 while LSU has a record of 16-3.
This will be the first time meeting between the Trojans and the Sooners. Troy played LSU in 1997 with the Tigers coming out on top, 6-1.
Troy has performed well at the plate this week as junior Stacey Dwyer and freshman Heidi Johnson each have a .400 batting average and are two for five. Dwyer also has one RBI and two runs for Troy against Michigan and Nicholls State. Johnson had a home run against Michigan.
Dwyer is currently leading the team with a .333 batting average, .452 slugging percentage and .417 on-base percentage for the season. Dwyer also has 14 hits, seven RBI's, one home run, two doubles and has accounted for eight runs this season. She has also stolen four bases in four attempts.
As a team, Troy is 2-0, has ten runs, seven hits and seven RBI's for the week.
Troy will start the tournament by playing LSU at 12 p.m. and Oklahoma at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday the Trojans will play LSU at 10:30 a.m. and Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. Live stats will be available through www.troytrojans.com as provided by Oklahoma.
