Trojans Tennis Wins 5-2 at Southern Miss
3/19/2006 12:00:00 AM | Tennis
Troy (7-2) won the doubles point after winning in all three positions.
The Trojans were playing without their No. 1 singles player, Rawiaa Elsisi, which moved everyone up one position in singles play. Tsitsi Masviba earned a point for the Trojans with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sherry Price in the No. 1 position. Claudia Strauss also won in straight sets, defeating Grace Krammerer 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot. Caroline Jouanin and Shamiaa Elsisi also won their singles matches, defeating Chelsea Bond and Natalia Parrado in the Nos. 5 and 6 positions.
Without Rawiaa (Elsisi) playing, everyone had to step up a notch. We played well, and beat a good Southern Miss team,” Troy head coach Eric Hayes said.
The Trojans take their three-match win streak into Mobile, Ala., on Monday where they will face No. 34 Clemson.
