Andersson's 69 Propels South Alabama into Troy Women's Intercollegiate Lead

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Elin Andersson was the only player under par Monday -- shooting three-under 69 -- to help South Alabama to the first-round lead at the Troy Women's Invitationalllegiate at Arrowhead Country Club. The Jaguars are at four-over 292, five shots ahead of Louisiana-Monroe.
Andersson posted two birdies and seven pars in turning in 34, then parred 10 and 11 to start the back nine. After a bogey at 12, she birdied three of the next four holes (around another bogey at 14) to finish three under. Austin Peay's Staci Lynch is alone in second at even-par 72.
The host Trojans are 14th in the 15-team field, firing a 41-over 329. Charlotte Sundqvist is tied for seventh at two-over 74. Danielle Skipper is tied for 20th at 76, while Kaley Branton is tied for 53rd after a disappointing 81. After firing a 38 on the tougher back side, she posted a 43 on her second nine, the course's front.
Sarah Weldon rounded out Troy's scoring at 98, tying for 75th among the 77 individual competitors.
The final round is slated for Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. Tee times at Arrowhead Country Club run until 9:52.
