Jounia Wins Title; Bares Falls in Finals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Sophomore Caroline Jounia won the B singles consolation title while sophomore Annabelle Bares lost in the finals to wrap-up play for the Trojans at the ITA South Regionals.
Jounia defeated Bianca Svensson in the semifinal round, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to advance to the finals of the B singles consolation. Jounia was then scheduled to play Zoe Kent of Central Florida in the final round but Kent withdrew because of injury which made Jounia the winner.
Bares defeated Elena de Villiers of Mississippi State by scores of 6-2, 6-4, to advance to the championship round of B singles. Bares then faced Jil Hasternath of Auburn in the finals where she fell 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
The regional champions automatically qualify for the National Indoor Championships which will be held Nov. 2-5.
