Trojans Triumph First Day of South Carolina

TROY, Ala. - Senior Irving Morales continued his strong performance as he won his first match at the University of South Carolina Fall Invitational on Friday.
Morales defeated Andre Iriarte of North Carolina State 6-2, 7-6 (7) in the men's A-1 singles. Morales will take on Martin Sayer of Radford, the No. 1 seed, on Saturday at 10 a.m.
In the men's B-1 singles, freshman Bastian Maucher defeated Aaron Williams of Auburn, who was the fifth seed in the bracket, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1. Maucher will play Carlos Alverez of Clemson Saturday at 11 a.m.
Freshman Dusan Medan defeated Tim Bauer of UAB 6-2, 6-4 in the men's A-2 singles. Medan will face Marcos Digliodo of College of Charleston at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Sophomore Diego Martinez lost to Sam Huffman of Samford 6-1, 6-4 in the men's B-2 singles.
In doubles action, Morales and Medan fell to Henning Hip and Svigelj of South Florida, seeded first in the bracket, 9-8 (6) in the men's A-1 bracket.
Martinez and Maucher lost to Perry Allen and Justin Malina of College of Charleston, who were seeded fourth in the B-1 singles bracket, 9-8 (7).
Matches will be played at four locations in Columbia - the Gamecock men's team's Sam Daniels Tennis Facility, the Maxcy-Gregg Tennis Center, the Columbia Tennis Center and the USC Indoor Courts.
