Troy Wins Five of Six Against No. 33 Mississippi State

The Georgia Invitational is a hidden dual tournament. Each day, Troy will play one team in singles, and another in doubles. No team scores are kept, but individual results count towards rankings.
The Trojans also faced No. 7 Georgia in doubles play on Thursday, falling 3-0 to the Bulldogs.
Freshman Rawiaa Elsisi, playing in her first match with the Trojans, defeated Anastasia Kugakolova in the No. 1 position, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3. Senior Tsitsi Masviba defeated Renee Joseph, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, in the No. 2 position.
In the No. 4 position, freshman Annabelle Bares defeated Martina Banikova, 6-1, 6-2. Suzanne Jones picked up a win in the No. 5 position, defeating Elna Devilliers, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Shamiaa Elsisi defeated Tatiana Feit, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3, in the No. 6 position.
The Trojans were competing without freshman Caroline Jouanin, one of Troy's top incoming recruits.
The Trojans were not as successful in their doubles match on Thursday morning, losing all three matches to No. 7 Georgia.
For the first competition of the season, we were a bit rusty, but the girls were clutch on big points,” Troy head coach Eric Hayes said. In doubles, we have a lot of work to do.”
Saturday the Trojans will play Mississippi State in doubles at 10:15 a.m. and No. 67 Kansas State in singles play at 1 p.m.
