NCAA Champion to Compete in USTA Women's Classic of Troy

Hayes issued one main draw wild card to 15-year-old Veronica Ruo-qi Li. The Irving, Calif., native is ranked No. 93 in the World International Junior Rankings.
Three qualifying wild cards were also issued. One went to Zemenova, the sophomore from Baylor who became the first unseeded player to win the NCAA Championship in 2005. The Cosice, Slovakia native was named the Big XII Player and Freshman of the Year.
The second wild card went to Valeri Tetreault of Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Canada. The 17-year-old is ranked No. 47 in the World Junior Tennis Rankings. She recently made the round of 16 in the Australian Open Junior Championship, and she competed in the junior championship for all four Grand Slam events.
The third qualifying wild card spot will be awarded to a to-be-determined Troy University tennis player.
The USTA Women's Classic of Troy is a $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit event that will be held Oct. 2-9 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. 2005 will be the third year that Troy has hosted the event.
Even though this is a professional tournament, it is very exciting to have the NCAA Champion coming to Troy,” Hayes said.
