Women's Golf Team Concludes Play at UA Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate

TUSACALOOSA -- Troy wrapped up its first tournament of the 2005-06 season Tuesday by shooting a 338 at the UA-Ann Rhoades Intercollegiate. The Trojans were at the bottom of the 16-team field with a score of 971.
Alabama rallied for the team title by firing a Tuesday-best 298. The Crimson Tide finished at 900, six strokes better than Augusta State. ASU's Garrett Phillips claimed meadlist honors by five strokes at 213.
Shauna McVeigh finished as the Trojans top player, finishing tied for 36th at 236 (78-80-78)). Kate Crosson shot an 81 on Tuesday after back-to-back 84s to climb to 67th overall at 249.
Danielle Skipper and Kristy Stephens tied with each other for 77th at 258. Skipper carded a 91 Tuesday after scores of 82 and 85 in the opening rounds, while Stephens added an 88 to her 86 and 84.
Sam Kriegers rounded out the scoring at 330 (119-105-106/87th).
Troy returns to action on Sept. 29, when it travels to Cullowhee, N.C. for the Great Smokies Women's Golf Championship.
