Trojans Advance to A-Sun Quarterfinals

DeLand, Fla. - The Troy University women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Sun Championship with a 5-0 win over No. 11 Lipscomb on Thursday. The Trojans, who are the six seed in the tournament, will face tournament host Stetson on Friday at 2 p.m.
Troy took a 1-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches to claim that point. Troy secured the win after Suzanne Jones, Shamiaa Elsisi, Luz Garcia and Christina Mancheno each won their singles matches in straight sets. Tsitsi Masviba and Nicole Shaw did not finish play.
"The girls went out and did what we expected them to do," said Troy head coach Eric Hayes. "We executed well, and they've put themselves in a position to do something significant tomorrow."
