Troy, Ala. - The Troy University men's tennis team has the No. 1 seed for this week's Atlantic Sun Championship hosted by Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. It is the first time the Trojans have occupied the top spot since joining the A-Sun in 1997.
The men will face the winner of Thursday's match between No. 8 Jacksonville and No. 9 Stetson at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
The Trojan women will have to pull a few upsets in order to defend their A-Sun Championship. The Trojans are seeded sixth and will face No. 11 Lipscomb in the first round at 8 a.m. on Thursday. If they win in the opening round, Troy will go on to face No. 3 Stetson on Friday at 1 p.m. The Trojans have not played Lipscomb this season, and they fell 5-2 at Stetson on April 6.
"The season is just beginning for us," said Troy head coach Eric Hayes. "We hope to continue to play well and we'll just see what happens."
