Troy Falls 5-0 at No. 41 South Carolina

Columbia, S.C. - The Troy University men's tennis team lost in its sixth match against a top-50 team as it fell 5-0 at No. 41 South Carolina on Sunday. The final two matches were suspended due to rainy conditions.
Daniel Quiceno and Emir Basic's doubles team was the only Trojans (2-6) team to come away with a win in the afternoon, as they defeated South Carolina's (8-1) pair of Tom Eklund and Jamie Cuellar 8-5 in the No. 2 doubles position.
In singles action, Marko Despot fell against No. 110 Pedro Rodrigues 6-0, 6-3. South Carolina's Geraldo Knorr defeated Quiceno in the No. 3 position, 6-4, 7-5. USC's Ben Atkinson topped Basic in the No. 4 position to clinch the match.
With the win already in South Carolina's possession, Troy's Irving Morales and Eklund played a tie-breaker to decided the No. 1 position. Eklund came away with the 10-4 win, as he ended up defeating Morales 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4).
The Trojans return to action on Tuesday when they host West Florida at 2 p.m.
