TROY, Ala. - Troy University Softball swept a double header with Florida A&M University to improve their record to 8-1 on the season. The Trojans used a balanced attack to defeat the Lady Rattlers 4-1 in the first game and 5-0 in the second.
FAMU is off to a phenomenal start, and to get a pair of wins off them is huge,” said Trojan head coach Melanie Davis. We knew they would be tough, but our kids did a great job of putting together all three phases of the game.”
Sophomore Jocelyn McCallum had another big day for the Trojans in the first game. McCallum tied the record for strikeouts in a game with 13, a record which she set in her first start of the season. In seven innings pitched McCallum faced 26 batters giving up two hits and zero earned runs. It felt good to help the team out and I really felt good about my performance,” said Blackwell. I think a lot of the offense carried over from this past weekend and the team's energy was great.”
