Masviba and Strauss Advance in USTA event

TROY, Ala. - Troy University senior Tsitsi Masviba and sophomore Claudia Strauss have each won their opening round matches to advance to the second round of the USTA Women's Classic of Troy.

Masviba advanced with a 7-6, 2-6, 0-1 (ret.) win over Tiya Rolle in the opening round. Masviba will go on to face seventh-seeded Francesca Lubiani of Italy at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Strauss advanced by topping fellow Trojan Nicole Shaw, 6-0, 6-2. Strauss will go on to play Tanja Ostertag of Germany on Monday in the second match on court one. Ostertag advance when she upset sixth-seeded Zuzana Zemenova, 6-3, 6-0.

Play resumes in the USTA Women's Classic of Troy at 10 a.m. on all four courts on Monday.
