Meet the Trojans - Jordan Gray | Facility Upgrade
TROY, Ala. – With the 2013 Troy softball season fast approaching, TroyTrojans.com will introduce you to a newcomer from the squad every week, leading up to the season opener in February.
Erica Davis spent the last two seasons at Faulkner State in Bay Minette, Ala. There, Davis helped lead the Sun Chiefs to a 39-14 record during her sophomore season, hitting .444 with 42 RBI and 10 home runs. She hit .418 with 54 RBI and nine home runs her freshman season and earned all-region and All-Southern Division honors both seasons. Davis played her high school ball at Alma Bryant High School in Irvington, Ala., where she earned all-county honors her final three seasons.
1. Why did you choose to come to Troy?
"While on my visit, I fell in love with the campus and the school. I also really liked the coaches and the girls and knew I would fit right in."
2. How has the transition been from Faulkner to Troy?
"It has been a great transition. There is some stuff that is different but it wasn't very hard to get used to."
3. What would you say are the key differences in your preparation for the season ahead?
"I would say that the key differences for me are just the training and the time I put in."
4. How have your practices been and what do you see as your biggest improvement so far?
"The practices have been great. I've accomplished so much in just a little bit of time. My biggest improvement so far, I would have to say is my swing."
5. The softball team is getting a new facility built. How is this going to impact the team in the future?
"I am very excited about the upgrade to the softball field and the new training facility. I have never seen anything like it before and cant wait to be able to use it. It will definitely help us prepare for the spring."
6. What are your personal goals for the spring season?
"To go out every game and do my best. Leave everything on the field. Also help the team to a championship."
7. When you finish college, what would you like to do?
"I would like to coach my own team one day."
