TROY, Ala. – With the 2013 Troy softball season fast approaching, TroyTrojans.com will introduce you to a newcomer from the squad every week, leading up to the season opener in February.
Jordan Gray played her last two years of softball at Chelsea High School in Chelsea, Ala. There, Gray helped lead the Hornets to the 5A state championship in 2012, hitting .375 with four home runs during the season. Gray played for three different teams in high school, earning her first varsity letter as an eighth grader at Sylacauga High.
1. Why did you choose Troy?
"I chose Troy because it offered the opportunity to gain a quality education in classes with small student to teacher ratios, while continuing to play the game I love with a team dedicated to winning on and off the field."
2. How has the transition been from high school to Troy?
"With the helpful advice and support from my teammates, the transition between high school and college has been fairly easy."
3. What is the main thing that you have learned during this fall season?
"The main thing I have learned this fall season is the importance of the mental toughness, not only on the field, but also in the weight room and during training."
4. Softball is about to get a new facility, how is that going to impact you?
"Having a new facility will give us something to work for. Providing us the place to work on our own at any time, as well as improving our team chemistry, will help us to be a championship level team, in all aspects of the game."
5. What are your goals for the season?
"My goals for the season are to get better in at least one area of the game each practice, earn a starting position and contribute in any way that I can to help my team win."
6. When you finish college what would you like to do?
"After college, I hope to be a physical therapist and work with athletes to help them regain strength in order to continue playing the game they love."
