Men's Tennis Pair Earns Academic All-District Honors

TROY, Ala. – Coming off solid performances on the court and in the classroom, Troy's Yeray Andres Pastor and Mario Martinez Serrano were named to the College Sports Communicators Men's Tennis Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.

Pastor, a sophomore from Valencia, Spain, entered the spring semester with a 3.54 GPA in psychology with a minor in sport management. On the court, he posted a remarkable 17-4 record in dual matches, including a 4-2 mark in Sun Belt play. Additionally, he was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team in doubles this past season thanks to a 13-4 overall record and 6-1 record in league play.Â

Martinez, a sophomore from Zaragoza, Spain, carried a 3.69 GPA into the spring in physical education and earned All-Sun Belt honors on the court. The Sun Belt Player to Watch for a second straight season, Martinez led the league with a 23-2 record in dual matches, all on court one. He finished the year 6-2 in Sun Belt action and was 30-5 overall when factoring in the fall. In doubles, Martinez posted a 20-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in league play.

The 2024 Academic All-District Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Both Pastor and Martinez are eligible for the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
