TROY, Ala. -Â The Troy baseball team hits the road this weekend as they're set to take on the defending national champion Tennessee Volunteers in a fall exhibition at the Jackson Baseball Stadium in Jackson, Tenn., on Sunday.Â
The Trojans and Volunteers are slated to play a doubleheader with game one beginning at 12 p.m. CT. It will be Troy's second and final exhibition game this fall after hosting junior college powerhouse Northwest Florida State last Friday night. Â
Skylar Meade enters his fourth season as Troy head coach, having led the Trojans to new heights during his first three seasons at the helm. In 2024, Troy reached its first national ranking since 2013 at No. 21 while leading the Sun Belt with six players on the All-Conference teams.Â
Brooks Bryan returns after a record-setting 85-RBI season as a sophomore, while the Trojans also bring four back four of their six most frequently used arms in Luke Lyon, Grayson Stewart, Garrett Gainous and Jay Dill. Â
26 talented newcomers join the Troy roster this season, including two of D1Baseball's Top 85 Impact transfer pitchers in Noah Edders and Colby Frieda. At the plate, transfers Blake Cavill, Gavin Schrader and Steven Meier bring loads of starting experience while Jimmy Janicki highlights a promising freshman class. Â
Troy faces a Tennessee team coming off back-to-back trips to the College World Series, including a national championship last season. Â
Following the exhibition this weekend, the Trojans will play a plethora of intrasquad games to wrap up their fall schedule in the coming weeks. Â
