Jake Springer Named Sun Belt Men’s Golfer of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Troy senior Jake Springer has been named the Sun Belt Men's Golfer of the Week after claiming individual medalist honors earlier this week at the Everett Buick GMC Classic after shooting a 12-under 204.

Springer's finish at the top of the leaderboard included beating out individuals from both No. 23 South Carolina and No. 38 Little Rock.

Springer carded seven birdies and 11 pars during his round of 65 to close out the tournament, which was just one shot off the program record. His victory was Troy's first since Brent Hamm won the National Intercollegiate in the spring of 2021, which at the time was the first individual win since the 2012-13 season.

The Troy shot 13-under over the final 36 holes of the tournament, thanks to a 6-under 66 in the second round coupled with his 65 on Tuesday. Springer's 204 is tied for Troy's lowest round since at least 2005-06, as sophomore Lee Poppell carded a 204 last season at the MartinFed Invitational.
