Laura Fangmeyer Rises into Top 10, Troy Remains in Sixth After Day Two of USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – Laura Fangmeyer shot a 72 for the second straight day on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail to rise four spots and sit tied for eighth, while Troy maintained sixth place on Sunday afternoon at the USA Intercollegiate Tournament.
The sophomore shot par through her second 18, remaining steady through the front nine. The back nine saw her fall behind on the 12th hole when she double-bogeyed on a par-4. However, the Austria native fought back, birdieing on No. 13 and No. 17 before closing her day with a par-4 on the 18th hole.
ULM extended its advantage over the field despite rising to 1-over 565 through both days. Middle Tennessee maintained through day two, matching its 2-over 290 from opening day. Tennessee Tech had the furthest jump up from day one, improving by 13 shots to put them within reach for the finale on Monday.
Troy as a unit shot the sixth-best on the day to maintain its position in a tie with Memphis, shooting 10-over (298)
Samantha Straight and Katelynn Altese followed Fangmeyer for Troy to sit tied for 30th. Straight shot 3-over, rattling off three birdies in her back nine. Meanwhile, Altese managed one birdie and had 11 pars on the day to match her fellow Trojan in the overall standings.
After shooting a 79 on day one, Alyssa Mercado (T-38th) improved eight spots and five shots to 74 when she birdied two holes, including a par-5 – finished 25th on the day. Freshman Manya Saini dipped on day two, rounding out the Trojans at 10-over to end tied for 51st.
The final day of the USA Intercollegiate starts on Labor Day Monday, when the Trojans tee off at 8:30 a.m.
