TROY, Ala. – The Troy Women's Basketball squad is primed for an in-state showdown with Alabama in the opening round of the WNIT Thursday inside Trojan Arena.
Postseason basketball has made its way back into Trojan Arena! For just the second time in program history, the Trojans (24-8, 13-2 Sun Belt) will host the first round of the WNIT. Troy is seeking its first win in postseason action.

Storylines
- For the fourth consecutive season, the Trojans are postseason bound! Troy made the NCAA tournament in 2020-21 and 2019-20 (despite not playing due to COVID) and the WNIT in 2018-19.
- The Trojans had a pair of post players be named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team in Felmas Koranga and Tina Stephens.
- Entering this week's WNIT, the Trojans have recorded 24 victories. With a win in the opening round, Troy would tie the single-season program wins record (25, 2019-20 season).
- Troy is an impressive 35-5 inside the friendly confines of Trojan Arena over the last three seasons.
- When you think of the best in college football, you think of Nick Saban. When you think of the best in Sun Belt women's basketball, you think Chanda Rigby. Nick Saban is 42-5 (.894) in his last 47 games vs SEC teams. Chanda Rigby is 50-6 (.892) in her last 56 games vs Sun Belt teams.
- Despite having been outrebounded in 12 games, as per usual, the Trojans lead the nation in rebounds and offensive rebounds.
- The WNIT appearance is the Crimson Tide's 18th in program history and fourth under head coach Kristy Curry.
- In its most recent appearance in the postseason tournament, Alabama won three straight games at home, before losing to Georgia Tech, 76-66, in the quarterfinals in Atlanta, Ga., on March 26, 2017.
- The Crimson Tide travels down to Troy having won four of their last six contests, including a double overtime win over Texas A&M. Alabama also upset No. 21 Georgia in the SEC Tournament to advance to the quarterfinals.
