Women's Tennis Extends Win Streak with Sun Belt Win

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team opened its first conference home weekend in style on Saturday with a 4-0 sweep of App State. The win improves the Trojans' record to 5-5 on the year while dropping App State to 3-6.
With App State playing shorthanded on Saturday, Troy had an advantage in both singles and doubles as the started both sets of matches with an early 1-0 lead. In the doubles action that proved to be very important after App State won the first doubles match of the day on court one. Troy would eventually capture the doubles point with a win on court two by the pair of Michelle Ncube and Andrea Widing.
In singles Troy needed just two wins to secure the victory. The first singles win for the Trojans came on court five by Kristina Kukaras who easily won with a 6-0, 6-0 decision. The Trojans clinched the match on court four when Ncube defeated her opponent with a straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 decision. Troy and App decided to play to clinch on Saturday, leaving matches on courts one, two and three unfinished.
Troy will be back at home on Sunday when they host Coastal Carolina. First serve vs the Chanticleers is scheduled for 10 a.m.
