Troy Softball Names Madeline Porter Volunteer Assistant Coach

TROY, Ala. – Troy softball head coach Beth Mullins announced on Friday that former Trojan, Madeline Porter, will assume the role of volunteer assistant coach following a three-year playing career at Troy.

"I am really excited to announce the addition of Porter to our staff," Mullins said. "She embodies all the things we take pride in in our program. She is a winner and a worker, and she will make our student athletes and the program better!"

Porter joins the staff following a standout performance her senior year where she led the team in total plate appearances, walks and runs scored. The Birmingham, Ala., native batted a .272 clip with 27 doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 71 RBI over her three years as a Trojan.

"I am so thankful for Coach Mullins' giving me the opportunity to join the staff," Porter said. "This program means so much to me, and I am excited to be able to contribute and give back to this team that has given me so much."

Porter's coaching debut will be on February 7 as Troy takes on Lipscomb at 3 p.m. in the 2020 season opener at the Troy Softball Complex.
