TROY, Ala. –Troy Athletics has released its 2017-18 Year in Review, a 44-page publication highlighting the Trojans' historic 2017-18 athletic year. It is available to fans on Troy's athletic website, TroyTrojans.com.
Â
"As we wrap up the 2017-18 academic year, I feel so blessed to be a Trojan," Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain said. "It has been another remarkable year, highlighted by many individual and team records and the outstanding support offered our student-athletes by the Troy University community. None of this would be possible without the support we receive from Trojans around the country. At a time when we have been laser-focused on growing into a premier FBS athletic department, this support has allowed us to reach many of our goals. While there is plenty of road left to travel, the future is very bright for Troy Athletics. Together we can succeed as … One TROY!"
During the year, Troy claimed the Sun Belt Conference football championship and six Troy student-athletes were named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year in their respective sports. The baseball team earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Regionals, while the track & field program sent 12 individuals to NCAA competition. Also, women's tennis earned the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament and head coach Rawia Elsisi was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year.Â
In the classroom, Trojan student-athletes set benchmarks in the NCAA APR and with their grade-point-averages, while the men's golf, women's golf and women's cross country teams earned public recognition from the NCAA for their APR scores. Off the field, Troy student-athletes made a tremendous impact on the local community with their tireless community service efforts.
