Hicks Named Sun Belt Player Of The Week

TROY, Alabama – After setting career highs in both points and rebounds en route to leading Troy to a 15-point victory at rival South Alabama, Alex Hicks was named Player of the Week the Sun Belt Conference announced on Monday.

The forward could not be contained in Troy's first road conference win this season as he had the first 30-point performance of his career while also drawing in 16 rebounds to set another career best.

His dominant afternoon did not stop there as the junior also had four blocks on the afternoon and three assists while going 7-8 from the free-throw line and knocking down one 3-pointer.

It marked the second time in three games Hicks had 20 points or more after he had 20 points and seven rebounds at UT Arlington. The Seale, Ala. native previously set a career-high of 26 points against Brewton-Parker in Troy's home opener on Nov. 16.

Hicks has been a force all season as he is the team's third-leading scorer at 12.2 points per game and the leading rebounder at 8.5 rebounds per game in his first season as a full-time starter.

Troy is currently 8-10 on the year with a 2-3 conference record in the pursuit to repeat as Sun Belt champions. The Trojans will return home on Thursday to face Appalachian State at 7:15 p.m. followed by Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 4:15 p.m.
