Troy Football Continues Spring Practice

TROY, Alabama – The Troy football team practiced in shells for the first time this spring in Tuesday's two-hour workout on the practice fields behind Trojan Arena. It was Troy's third practice of the spring and came after a number of former Trojans went through Pro Day earlier in the afternoon.

Head coach Neal Brown used his first day with shoulder pads on to focus all aspects of his team with special teams mixed in throughout the evening workout and an early emphasis on ball security.

The Trojans will scrimmage twice during the spring leading up to T-Day on April 15 at 12 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Stadium. Troy's annual Friday Night Lights scrimmage will take place on March 31 at 4 p.m. in the Vet and the second scrimmage will take place on April 8 in conjunction with Alumni Weekend.

Troy opens the 2017 season with a highly-anticipated matchup at Boise State on Sept. 2 before opening its six-game home slate the following week against Alabama State.

Troy will return to the practice fields on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.; all of Troy's spring practices are open to the public. T-Day is set for April 15.

"This was our first time in pads," head coach Neal Brown said. "I thought our energy was good. We've got some key guys out so execution wasn't great at all times. To be honest that's what is to be expected. We weren't as physical as I would have liked for us to be. That's the one thing, when we come back on Thursday we have got to be more physical. We will be in full pads Thursday."
