14 Softball Players Earn NFCA Scholar –Athlete Honors

TROY, Alabama - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) named 14 Troy softball players 2016-17 NFCA Easton Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday afternoon. These students have maintained a 3.5 GPA throughout the school year.
The Trojans were recently honored as an NFCA Academic team with an eighth place Division I ranking as they recorded a 3.585 team GPA. Grace Mirly and Madeline Porter paved the way for the Trojans each earning a perfect 4.0 in the classroom.
Other returning players that made the list include senior Erica Davis, junior Peyton Glover and sophomores Logan Calhoun and Katie Webb. Jordan Gray who graduated over the summer with a psychology degree finished with a 3.9 GPA, while Becca Hartley graduated with a 3.7 GPA in accounting. Meg Willis finished her senior season with a 3.7 GPA as a nursing major and pitcher Rachel Rigney Brown earned a 3.85 in physical education.
Troy led the Sun Belt's 10 softball institutions, and was one of just two schools to have over a 3.50 GPA as a team. Troy is the only Sun Belt school represented in the NFCA top-10.
