2016-17 Schedule
TROY, Alabama – Troy women's basketball head coach Chanda Rigby released the team's 2016-17 non-conference schedule on Wednesday. The defending Sun Belt Conference champions will play 13 home games, participate in the San Juan Shootout and take on perennial powerhouse Tennessee.
"Our schedule is probably the toughest since I've been here," Rigby said. "It is all an effort for us to be consistent in Sun Belt Conference play. We are also excited about out trip to Puerto Rico. It shows the commitment of our administration to our players' experience while at Troy."
The Trojans open the season at Auburn on Nov. 11 before hosting Belmont on Nov. 16 at Trojan Arena. Troy will also venture south in the Wiregrass to take on Thomas University at the Dothan Civic Center on Nov. 21.
Troy will clash with Villanova on Nov. 25 then play Loyola Chicago on Nov. 26, in the San Juan Shootout. Both games will be played at Mario Quijote Morales Coliseum in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The games will be the first regular-season contests outside of the United States in program history. They will be the third and fourth outside of the continental U.S. after the Trojans played two games in Hawaii in 1994.
A trip to Knoxville to play Tennessee on Dec. 21 wraps up the team's out-of-conference road schedule, while a home contest against Armstrong State on Dec. 29 leads the Trojans into Sun Belt play. It will be Troy's second visit to Knoxville, as the team fell to the third-ranked Volunteers in 2013.
Other home games include visits from UAB (Dec. 18) and Alabama State (Dec. 4). Troy also plays Jacksonville (Dec. 10) and Nicholls State (Dec. 14) on the road.
