Troy Drops Series Finale Against ULM

MONROE, Louisiana – After sweeping yesterday's doubleheader, the Troy softball team dropped Sunday's series finale against ULM, 2-0, at the ULM Softball Complex.

Neither team could push a run across the plate until the fifth inning when ULM (20-23, 5-10 Sun Belt) scored the only two runs of the game. Rochelle Roberts caught the Trojans off-guard with her aggressive base running when she stole home plate for the first run. Sydney McKay pushed the final run of the game across the plate with a single up the middle to clinch the Warhawk victory.

Troy (25-14, 6-6 Sun Belt) only had two hits in the game. Carli Kayler doubled down the left field line in the sixth inning and Meg Willis singled down the left field line in the top of the seventh.

Melanie Coyne (14-15) tossed a complete game for the Warhawks and gave up only two hits and no walks. Ashley Rainey (13-11) suffered the loss in the circle for the Trojans. She gave up two runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Troy returns home after a six-game road stretch to host Samford on Wednesday at the Troy Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
