Teddy Ruben Tabbed Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week

TROY, Alabama – Troy wide receiver and punt returner Teddy Ruben was named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week following his performance against Charleston Southern, the Sun Belt Conference announced Monday.

Ruben, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., scored three touchdowns in the Trojans' 44-16 victory over the Buccaneers. Ruben scored his final touchdown of the night when he took a 64-yard punt return to the house in the fourth quarter.

Ruben became the 20th player in Troy history to score 18 points in a game, which tied him for the seventh most points in a game in school history. His first two touchdowns of the game came in the first quarter on back-to-back drives. His first touchdown, a 47-yard catch, was the second touchdown of his career and the longest reception of his career.

Ruben finished the night with 174 all-purpose yards. He established new career highs in both receptions (6) and receiving yards (89).

The Trojans travel to Madison, Wis., this weekend as they head to Big Ten opponent, Wisconsin. Kickoff between the Badgers and Trojans is slated for 2:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
