Cross Country Heads to Florida for Mountain Dew Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Florida – The Troy cross country team is heading to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in the 2014 Mountain Dew Gator Invitational on Saturday morning. The meet, which features 29 women's teams and 27 men's teams, is hosted by the University of Florida and will be held at Mark Bostick Golf Course.

Coach Elliott Blount is looking forward to the meet and the prospect of racing against some great competitors. "I'm very excited to get to Gainesville and mix it up against some of the best teams in the south," said Blount. "I think these two groups are really going to get after it. I'm confident the athletes we have running are going to give their best effort of the year."

On the men's side, Tim Bulger, Joe Giese, Eric Schueller, Cameron McCutcheon and Dylan Ogburn are set to compete. The men's 8k race will kick off the day's events promptly at 7:45 a.m.

The women's 5k race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Competing for the Trojan women will be Katrina Bokenfohr, Mikayla Hodges, Marsel Mosley, Julia Ostendorf, Samantha Smith and Sara Zylstra.
