Rebecca Whetstone Promoted to Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Services

TROY, Ala. – Rebecca Whetstone has been named Troy University's Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Services, Athletics Director John Hartwell announced Thursday.

"Rebecca has demonstrated her expertise in helping our student-athletes reach their goals in the classroom, and we are excited for her to lead our Student-Athlete Services (SAS) department," Hartwell said. "Her passion for Troy University and our student-athletes made her a clear-cut choice for the position."

Whetstone came to Troy in 2011 as a graduate assistant in SAS and was quickly promoted to a full time role in October 2012. As an academic coordinator, Whetstone had academic oversight of the Troy men's basketball, women's golf, women's track & field and women's cross country teams.

Additionally, she served as tutor coordinator where she enhanced Troy's student-athlete tutoring program by tripling the number of tutors hired to assist student-athletes. Whetstone also played a key role in assisting with Troy's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Whetstone earned her bachelor's degree in sport management from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, and she completed her master's degree in counseling and psychology from Troy University.
