Trojans Head to Sun Belt Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy indoor track and field team begins championship season on Monday and Tuesday with the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
"We are excited to head to the conference championship," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "We have some young athletes making their mark and some on the edge of breakthroughs. Our team has been putting in the work and has had some great practices of late."
Competition kicks off on Monday with the women's weight throw at 12 p.m. The high jump and several track events also begin on Monday. Tuesday's session begins at 9 a.m. and continues throughout the day.
The Trojans have competed at the CrossPlex twice this season, including their last meet, the Samford Multi and Invitational.Â
Dallas Worthy currently ranks fifth in the 400-meters with a season-best time of 57.44 seconds, set at the Samford Multi and Invitational. Julia Ostendorf is ranked eighth in the 5k with a time of 18:21.64.Â
