TROY, Ala. – Four former Troy University football players inked NFL undrafted free agent contracts Saturday night following the conclusion of the NFL Draft.
Offensive lineman Kyle Wilborn and wide receiver Chip Reeves signed deals with the Washington Redskins, safety Brynden Trawick inked a deal with the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and linebacker Kanorris Davis signed with the New England Patriots.
“We expected these guys to get a chance to play at the next level and free agency can turn out to be a good deal,” Troy head coach Larry Blakeney said. “Free agency gives them a chance to shop around and find a team that best fits their needs. I know all four of them will represent Troy University and our football team in a positive manner.”
Reeves, Wilborn and Trawick earned first team All-Sun Belt honors this past season while Davis was a second team selection.
Wilborn led an offensive line that was decimated by injuries to one of the top units in the country. Troy finished 25th in the NCAA allowing just 1.25 sacks per game despite attempting 42.4 passes per contest. Wilborn, who started 47 games over his career, led the Trojans with an 87 percent grade for the season and had 122 knockdowns in 896 snaps.
Reeves led the Sun Belt and ranked 28th nationally averaging 87.5 yards per game in addition to leading the league in catches of over 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards; he finished fourth in the NCAA in catches of over 30 and 50 yards. He was the only Sun Belt player to have five 100-yard receiving games in 2012 and the first player in Troy history to do so four times. Reeves finished 120 yards shy of the single-season school receiving record after hauling in 65 catches for 1,050 yards and six touchdowns.
Trawick finished his senior season with 83 tackles, three interceptions and four pass breakups. He intercepted Sun Belt Player of the Year Ryan Aplin – one of just four on the year by Aplin – and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown. Trawick earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording 15 tackles, including a pair for a loss, at North Texas.
Davis led all Trojans and ranked 10th in the Sun Belt averaging 7.5 tackles per game. He finished fourth in the league with 62 solo tackles despite missing Troy's game at Tennessee. Davis finished the year strong with 13 tackles against Arkansas State and 10 at Middle Tennessee. He forced a pair of fumbles at Middle Tennessee and recovered a loose ball against Western Kentucky.
