NEW ORLEANS, La. – Necee Jennings and Madison Winter have been acknowledged for their achievements during the 2013 season by being named to All-Sun Belt Conference teams, as voted on by the league's coaches.
Jennings becomes the first Trojan to earn first team honors from the Sun Belt, following a tremendous freshman campaign. She led the team in goals with seven, as well as points, with 14. Her four game-winning goals were also tops on the team.
Winter was outstanding during the entire season, especially through SBC play. She played in just two non-conference games, but made her mark against the conference opponents. In seven conference games, Winter allowed just three goals, picking up four shutouts. She led the league with a 0.44 goals against average and a .932 save percentage in SBC contests.
The Trojans finished the season 8-9-1, including 4-3-1 in conference play. Troy finished in a tie for fourth in the league with Texas State, and will play the Bobcats in the first round on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., in San Marcos, Texas.
Jennings, one of just three freshmen to make the first team, and Winter join Jill Pinder and Ruth Sutcliffe as the only Trojans to be named to an All-Sun Belt Conference team. Pinder and Sutcliffe were honored following the 2010 season.
