Trojan Stampede Results
TROY, Ala. – After three days full of cold, grueling, but entertaining activities at the Pike County Cattlemen's Complex, the Trojan Stampede has come to an end.
The Troy rodeo team didn't perform like they would have wanted, but they were guaranteed to provide all fans with an entertaining set of performances at the annual event.
The men's team placed ninth on the heels of a 90-point performance, as the women recorded a sixth place finish with 55 points.
Cassidy Aldridge and Kelsey Kennemer accounted for the women's points, as they both contributed in breakaway roping. Aldridge record a time of 3.2 seconds to qualify for the short-go, and finished with a 3.6 on Saturday to place sixth in the average and points. Kennemer also qualified with a 3.2, but failed to record a time in Saturday's short-go.
Kesia Smith appeared in the short-go in goat tying thanks to a qualifying round of 9.6 seconds, but failed to place in the finale after a second round 10.3.
Kennemer, paired with Sara St. Clair of Southern Arkansas, combined for 40 points in team roping after an average of 35.7 seconds. Troy Hatcher, paired with Trojan Spur Albert McBride, failed to record a time in the short-go. Troy's only contribution to the men's team came from Zack Mabry as he and team partner Ben Walker combined for a second place finish and 90 points after a 17.9 second average.
Liza Ingram advanced as the only Troy competitor in barrel racing, but did not place after a 32.79 average.
East Mississippi claimed the men's title thanks to a 625 point performance, while Southern Arkansas edged Missouri Valley on the women's side with 415 points.
The Trojans will enjoy a long break in the winter months before returning back to rodeo action in their highly-important spring schedule to determine qualifiers for the College National Finals Rodeo.
