JU Courtyard Classic Round 1 & 2 Results
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Troy women's golf team opened play at the JU Courtyard Classic on Monday at the Hidden Hills Country Club with a 36-hole total of 605, led by senior Sofia Bjorkman (74-72-146).
However, it wasn't Bjorkman who recorded the best score of the Trojans. In college golf, coaches choose which five athletes to compile the five-member team and any additional members may compete as individuals.
Taylor McGraw (71-74-145), who is competing as an individual, sits tied for third after day one. McGraw carded rounds of 71 and 74, by far the best of her season thus far.
Kayln Hudson (87-76-163) is also competing as an individual, and recorded her first action of the year on the course Monday.
Bjorkman shot a two-over 74 in the first round, but improved in the second by two strokes to finish the day at two-over, tied for fifth heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
Sara Fennvik (75-78-153) finished the first 36 holes tied for 15th, which if the tournament ended today, would better her best finish by more than 15 spots.
Brooke Spinks (77-77-154) matched her season-low round in each of the two rounds Monday, carding a 77 for a total of 154 to enter the final round in 20th.
Langley Vannoy (79-76-155) began the tournament with a seven-over par, 79, but bettered that by three strokes in the second round to complete day one tied for 21st with a 155 total.
Sydney Conrad (81-75-156) also improved play in the second round, shooting a three-over par 75 to better her first round of an 81.
The final round of the 54-hole JU Courtyard Classic will conclude on Tuesday and TroyTrojans.com will have a full recap of those results.
