Women’s Team Finishes Second

FINAL RESULTS

TEXARKANA, Ark. – The Troy University women's rodeo team finished third at the Cossatot Community College Rodeo over the weekend.

The Trojans had 295 points in the event finish just 25 points behind Murray State for second. Ozark Region front-runner UT-Martin captured first place with 515 points.

Whitney Hazouri picked up 75 points for Troy with a fifth place finish in the breakaway roping. She also added 90 points for a third place finish in goat tying.

Alley Hayes finished third in the barrel racing competition to add the other 130 points for Troy.

The Troy men finished seventh in the eight team field, scoring 280 points in the event. Missouri Valley College took home top honors on the men's side with 620 points.

Troy's scoring came in the calf roping and team roping events. The Trojans had three scoring times in calf roping, with Cody Skelton finishing second, Stetson Aldridge in third and Auston Thomas in fourth. The trio posted times all within 1/2 second of each other.

In team roping, Skelton picked up 100 points for a third place finish as a healer with partner Aaron Lowe of Murray State. Lane Taylor added 80 points for a fourth place finish as a header, with his partner, D.D. Hunt of East Mississippi Community College.

The Trojan spurs will not be back in action until the end of March when they travel back to Arkansas to compete in the Arkansas-Monticello Rodeo.
