Trojans Road Stretch Continues

DENTON, TX - The Troy Trojans softball team is back on the road and set to begin another crucial Sun Belt Conference series against the North Texas Mean Green.
The Trojans (30-11, 13-2) are coming into the series after consecutive losses at Florida State on Tuesday night, but Trojans head coach Melanie Davis believes that will help the team this weekend.
“Obviously anytime you see tough pitching like we saw against Florida State it can only make you better,” Davis said. “They showed us a lot on the mound, and we'll take what we learned from those games with us to North Texas and hopefully put it to work.”
North Texas (21-18, 7-7) enters the series after knocking off Big XII opponent Texas Tech on Wednesday.
“They can hit the ball well,” Davis said. “They also bring tough pitching to the table. This is a big series for us in the Sun Belt. Every series is huge, but when your on the road it becomes tougher to win because this league is so solid from top to bottom.”
The Trojans will have to contain the Mean Green's long ball in the series. North Texas has posted 32 home runs to date.
“We're going to try and go out there and take care of business, and hopefully we can stay atop the Sun Belt Conference standings,” Davis said.
Game times for the series were adjusted for Easter Sunday. The Trojans and Mean Green will play at 4 pm and 6 pm on Friday. Saturday's game three will begin at noon. All times are central.
