Whew! I've been putting off writing this blog, but I guess today's as good a day as any to put some finishing points on the men's basketball illustrious season. I've shaken off the blues of losing somewhat and have come to terms with the fact that the season is over.
We lost, but I guess you know that by now. Actually, lost by three points, which is eerily similar to a football game I witnessed in
I've spent the past 3 days fulfilling celebrity obligations, being nursemaid to my own child (a change from taking care of other people's children), celebrating my 33rd birthday (I know I don't look that old!), recovering from a strategic attack by the living room recliner, and mastering computer solitaire. I'm on strike from the office since it is Spring Break around here, although writing this blog in the parking lot of the
I'm also officially on strike from the blow-dryer and make-up and want to extend my sincere apologies to those I've run into accidentally. Dropping my daughter off at school is the closest thing to interaction with civilization I've experienced - except for the drive-thru lady at Daylight Donuts anyway. If I weren't completely in tune with myself, I'd think I was slightly depressed. But don't you worry - I'm not! I'm just trying to remember how to be a person again and not 'The Athletic Trainer' for a few days. I'm beginning to think this 'stay-at-home-mom' thing is a pretty good gig with no children actually AT HOME during the day. Although I'm sure I'm going to be expected to start cleaning soon...and that's enough to make me go back to work in itself.
The weather is fabulous and I'd forgotten what it was like to run and get sweaty since it's been so cold around here lately. I'm running every day until it gets cold again, because we all know it will get cold again. I've got to expend those donut calories somehow, don't I?
My only hope for the cure of boredom is Spring Football practice, and lucky for me, it starts up in a few days. I know Chuck will be nice and tell me to go home and take a break, but I don't think I can. I think I'm addicted to Troy Athletics. I've got some paperwork to catch up on and a class or two to teach, but other than that it looks like it's snooze-fest for a few weeks. Summer is right around the corner and I'll get some beach time then, but right now, I'm not ready for it to be over.
So, until I have anything journalistically pressing or the public demands it, I'll be on hiatus. There are a few things yet to say about the 2008-09 men's basketball season, but since I've established a self-imposed embargo on my office I don't have access to the statistical analysis of the season's injuries and treatments. Look for that high priority, breaking news in a week or so.
Until then...I've enjoyed it!
See you around the baseball diamond maybe...in the stands as a regular person-

P.S. By the way, the picture on the front page is of me overlooking the valley of Hot Springs, which is among the Ouchita Mountains. I think I even heard it called the Valley of the Vapors...not sure what that meant, but it was on a billboard in Hot Springs so it must be true. I've also added to the photo album.
